TRAINING AND RESEARCH

Sharing knowledge that leads to safer, more compassionate support and better outcomes.

Training

Your team will gain knowledge, confidence, and practical skills, to support people with complex mental health needs via the training I offer. I combine clinical expertise, research evidence, and lived experience, giving your staff insights and strategies they can use immediately in their practice.

With an AET teaching qualification and extensive experience delivering courses in the NHS, universities, and community sectors, I ensure training is engaging, relevant, and grounded in real-world understanding.

Training Areas

I provide training in a range of specialist areas, including:

Dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).
Suicide prevention and self-harm awareness.
Complex emotional needs (qualified Knowledge and Understanding Framework (KUF) trainer).
Patient safety and compassionate communication.

If your team has other specific learning needs, I’m happy to co-produce training that fits your goals and context.

Flexible Options

Training can be delivered:

Online or in-person.
From short one-hour workshops to full multi-day programmes.
For teams of any size — local, national, or international.

I have delivered training across the UK and internationally, helping services strengthen support for people with mental health difficulties and patient safety.

I have worked with:

NHS (primary and secondary care).
Voluntary and community organisations.
Universities and professional education programmes.
Peer-led and lived experience initiatives.

The result: teams feel equipped, confident, and supported to create safer, more understanding environments.

Collaborating to make research practical and impactful.

I am keen to connect with other researchers, psychologists, and counselling professionals who are passionate about research in all areas of counselling and dissociative disorders specifically. Together, we can generate knowledge that directly improves practice, enhances safety, and improves outcomes for clients, professionals, teams, and organisations.

I hold a PhD and have extensive experience in research design, methodology, publication, and academic teaching. Combined with lived experience, this allows me to translate complex findings into practical deliverables that make a difference for clients and professionals.

Research

My Current Research Interests

These are my main areas of focus at present, though I am always open to collaborative projects in related fields:

● Lived experiences of DID and dissociation.
● Client and counsellor experiences of endings in long-term therapy.
● Trauma-informed support within mental health services.
● Translating research into usable, real-world practice.

I aim to bridge the gap between research and practice, ensuring insights don’t stay on paper but actively improve understanding, support, and outcomes for both practitioners and people with lived experience.

If you are interested in impactful projects or evidence that changes practice, I’d love to connect.
