ABOUT ME
Accredited, skilled counsellor providing support you can trust and experience that makes a difference.
I’m Sally Adams, a qualified counsellor and Chartered Psychologist with over 30 years’ experience supporting adults and young people aged 13+. I offer counselling in Towcester and online, creating a safe and supportive space to explore your experiences and move forward at your own pace.
Every session is shaped around you — helping you feel safer, calmer, and more in control.

My Journey
Lived and professional experience that brings deeper understanding — so you feel genuinely seen and heard.
My life has included deeply challenging and transformative experiences. I understand how early trauma or difficult life events can affect confidence, relationships, and identity, and I also know recovery is possible. My lived & professional experience shapes the care I offer, helping you feel supported and understood.
Professional Background
Expert insight into how people cope, heal, grow and thrive — whatever they’re facing.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over 20 years in senior NHS roles, specialising in patient safety developing incident investigation systems and supporting patients and staff following adverse patient events. I also worked as a researcher at University College London and Imperial College, studying human behaviour, recovery, and wellbeing within complex systems. I have lectured extensively on this subject internationally and published many research papers and chapters in books.
I’ve supported adults and young people through a wide range of challenges, from grief and trauma to anxiety, stress, identity, and life transitions. You can feel confident that the support you receive is informed by extensive experience, clinical knowledge, and genuine care.
I am also a trustee for the Dissociative Disorders Alliance, contributing to advocacy, awareness, and support for people living with dissociative conditions.
Qualifications & Registration
High-level training and ethical practice, so you always feel safe and in capable hands.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), British Psychological Society (BPS) and the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation. I also hold an enhanced DBS certificate to ensure the highest levels of safety in my work with clients.

My Approach
A gentle, paced way of working that reduces overwhelm and supports lasting change.
I take a trauma-informed, integrative approach, meaning I adapt sessions to your needs. You stay in control of the pace and focus. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you rediscover your strengths and feel more at ease in who you are.
A therapist who values balance and connection — and helps you rebuild your own.
I love walking with my dogs, spending time by the sea, listening to music, and being with loved ones. These everyday moments remind me that calm, grounded connection is possible for all of us.
